What does ‘living life well’ mean to you?
For me, living life well is all about balance. We all lead busy lives, but it’s important to make time for the family, friends, self-care and finding joy amidst that busy life. Healthy eating and keeping active are all part of that balance and not things to compromise on.
How has your approach to health and lifestyle changed over the years?
The most important thing I’ve learnt is that health is wealth. We owe it to ourselves to look after ourselves – we’ve only got one body and need to look after it, inside and out.
I take Wellwoman supplements as an act of self care, to make sure I’m looking after myself. They help fill any gaps in my diet, so it’s one less thing to worry about! Vitamin D is important to support my immune system, the vitamin B6 helps with my energy release and biotin supports my skin.
What are your go-to healthy hacks that keep you feeling good, even on busy days?
If I have the time, I like yoga and swimming, and also lifting weights – nothing too heavy, just 5kg for my arms. That movement is really beneficial and good for my muscles and heart health.
No matter how busy my day has been, I make sure I stretch for at least 15 minutes every day. I find it grounds me, helps my flexibility, and I sleep better because of it. I literally stretch away the day!
When you feel stressed or run down, what helps you reset?
If I need a quick reset, putting my favourite music on, turning it up loud and throwing my arms in the air usually does the trick. I’ve been known to have the odd kitchen dance disco with Vernon, he’s DJ and I dance. My favourite music is anything by Jocelyne Brown and Haïcienda house music.
I also love a night out with my girlfriends. I find that a few cocktails, girly chat and belly laughs are good for the soul.
How do you relax?
I find it hard to relax, I’m always on the go, but practising mindfulness helps me feel calm. A few minutes of ‘me time’ go a long way!
